John Balliet is now serving the wonderful folks of the Fishertown Charge! John loves bringing the Word into the context of the congregation, believing that the “rubber-meets-the-road” with walking with people through the curves that life throws, and learning to lean into Jesus Christ, experiencing first-hand how faithful God is.
Born in Pittsburgh, John is a “preacher’s kid” twice over. Before entering the ministry, John spent over thirty years in retail, sales, and long-term care management, specializing in training and facility management. After "finally" saying yes to God's call to pastoral ministry in 2015, John completed his undergraduate degree at Geneva College (Public Relations) in December 2018, and will complete his M. Div. Program (Pittsburgh Theological Seminary) in January 2022. While in Seminary, John has served as Vice-President of the United Methodist Student Fellowship , as well as the Conference Higher Education Committee.
John and his wife, Pastor Kendra, have a blended family of five children including two grand-teens. John enjoys fitness, exercising, taking long walks, travel, family time, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. John and Kendra were awarded the 2021 Board of Pensions Fitness Award at the WPAUMC Annual Conference in Erie.
