Bio
Born in Elkhart Indiana; moved to Shelbyville Indiana and then South Hills (Mt. Lebanon) Pittsburgh; graduated H.S. there in 1972. Diverse educational/work related experience: Military - Vietnam Vet, Construction, EMS-P/T 21 yrs, EH&S Consulting-F/T 30 yrs. BS in Safety/Environmental Management from Slippery Rock and various credentials federal, state and local.

Raised Presbyterian, changed to UMC after moving back to PA settling in Greenville PA area initially attending Kennard UMC, then Clarks Mills UMC becoming Lay Speaker, then Certified Lay Servant, and now a Local Pastor for Emlenton United Ministries Three Point Charge. On July 1st 2021 Emlenton went from half time to quarter time. I accepted a quarter time visitation pastor position shared by Greenville's First and Calvary Churches in addition to Emlenton, all while I continued my education as I pursued an overdue dream of Local licensed pastor. After completing all requirements, I became a Licensed Local Pastor to all five churches under appointment.

I married Shirley in 1980 and adopted her two girls Sherri (11) and Lynn (9) along with her son Kenny (7) two years later. This was more fast-tracked; however, I learned it was normal for me and still is. From their three unions, Shirley and I were blessed with four grandchildren: Lynnsey, Brian, Marissa, and Hayden. My parents are both deceased and upon reflection, I enjoyed helping care for them. I'm the oldest of four including John, then Cindy, and finally Missy.Everyone is spread over the US from coast to coast.

I've been an avid sailor, love anything aquatic, golfer - but not very good. I was not a good reader when I was young so I was not a good reader and did not enjoy reading; however, after two surgeries and time, I improved; and continued to do so.I have worked hard also to lose weight, at least 40 lbs; I feel healthier.I enjoy visitations, helping others etc. I suppose I was taught well by parents, grandparents, and scouting.I used to travel extensively for business and loved the opportunity to visit so many states.

Since at least 6th grade I've had three life long ambitions including the pastoral career; unfortunately, that was not a realistic goal since I had no interest in going to college after high school in 1972, but now I have been able to realize that dream as well. It is hard, demanding, and exciting. I love helping people and of course contributing in so many ways to their faith and understanding of our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This has come as I am often growing as well - and likely will continue; And that is ok with me. For anyone who has helped me along my journey, I thank you!
