Bio
Dennis grew up near Lewisburg, Pennsylvania with parents who were lifetime, faithful members of the West Milton United Methodist Church. They were both examples of what it means to offer their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to the Body of Christ. He credits his parents with creating the opportunity for him to grow in faith by immersing him in the grace of God. Dennis married the love of his life, Debbie, in 1973 and was an active member of South Fork First United Methodist Church when he answered a call to ministry in 1989. Debbie retired in 2012, having served as controller and then executive director of the Community Action Partnership of Cambria County for 30 years. Dennis retired in 2017 so he and Debbie could move back to his hometown and serve as caregivers to his parents who were in failing health. After both of his parents died and their affairs were settled, Dennis and Debbie returned to the Johnstown area in 2019, where they had lived since 1974. They are the loving parents of two children: Matthew Zimmerman (and his wife Andrea) and Suzanne Smedberg (and her husband Ben) and have nine beautiful grandchildren.
