Bio
My name is Karen L. Hecht, I am married, currently living in South Park with my husband James Hecht. I  have two adult children, Jonathan (wife Denise) and Tyann (husband Brian). Also, I am proud of my four grandchildren, Noah, Nathaniel, Abigail and Sarah. I was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. I grew up in Port Vue of McKeesport, Pa. I graduated from the South Allegheny school district in 1968. After graduation, I attended Elim Bible College for three years was married and had two children.  In 1992 after being away from the church the Lord touched my life healing me and I began attending the Port Vue UMC. The Lord called me into a Prayer Ministry where we began to have healing services, teaching prayer and extensive meetings of prayer. Our prayer group extended from three up to twenty. At that time we got involved in the Aldersgate Ministries, and the Messiah Ministries prayer and healing. After attending PVUC I became active in different parts of the board for a few years before being called to go to Uganda, Africa with a group from church for fifteen days, then few yrs later, 15 days too Mozembique, and again onto an Immersion Trip to Zimbabwe for seven weeks living in a bush for four years.  These trips changed my life completely realizing that God's Grace is always extended, restoring who we are from the inside out. I have also traveled to Israel and Guatemala on missions trips with other groups outside of the WPAUMC  I first started in ministry at the Homestead Park UMC as a Congregational Care Pastor for two years before receiving my first charge at Highland Grove UMC in which I have served for the past twelve years. Also, I was appointed to the Whitaker UMC for past seven years, after my retirement from Jefferson Hospital working in the Business Office for ten years and prior McKeesport hospital for nine. Serving two churches from two different districts has been a challenge for six years until both churches combined under the Pittsburgh District. God has healed me of Lupus and I continue to Praise Him every day. My husband and I enjoy the beach and the warm weather working in the garden, and I enjoy walking in the morning on the Montour Trail which is in my backyard.  We have a simple life loving my family and grandchildren, seeing the exciting things they are doing in their life. During the summer we gather quite a bit each week just being together. I must say though prayer is the foundation of our lives. My husband and I make it a daily commitment to have devotions and pray together daily. I am blessed and give God the glory for all things.
