R. Andrew Verner serves as Elder in the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference and has been serving as a minister since 1992. Rev. Verner has expertise in church growth, new church planting, contemporary and traditional worship transitioning, community outreach, and family ministry.
Andrew earned a Bachelors of Science at Campbell University in 1993, and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1998. He completed Ashland Theological Seminary's Pastor of Excellence program in 2005. Andrew has completed and led others through church planter training. He has been a Stephen Ministry Leader since 2011. Pastor Verner has been trained in Every Member in Ministry through Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church. He is currently finishing certification in Human Resources Management through Penn State University.
Pastor Andrew has served in the Washington, Indiana, Butler and Erie Districts in small, mid-size, and large church ministry. He served as a student pastor at the Fredericktown-Denbo United Methodist Charge while attending seminary. Andy served his probationary period pastoring (at that time) the four churches of the Mt. Morris Charge. He was moved to serve as the associate of Butler First United Methodist Church. Andrew Verner then worked as pastor of the Punxsutawney First United Methodist Church initiating a worship transition and new staff development as well as three renovation projects. Pastor Andy served the Baden United Methodist Church over the next six years assisting with similar ministry and facility renewals. Andy is currently serving the Girard-Weis Library Charge.
Andrew Verner has served in district and conference boards and committees throughout his ministry, including the Board of Ordained Ministry, Conference Nominations, District Building and Location and District Committee on Discipleship. His favorite place of District service is as an instructor in the District Lay Ministry School.
Andy and Julie met at Camp Allegheny and have been married since 1994. They are the proud parents of Thomas, Ryan, Jesse, and Emily. Thomas is married to their lovely daughter-in-law, Katie, and is living in Baden, Pa. Ryan is employed locally in Saegertown, Pa. Jesse is a Senior and Emily a Freshman at Fairview High School.
