I started life in northern Butler County, a very rural area. I was raised in Grove City, where I attended Grace UMC. My family’s life was intertwined with the life of the church. The rhythm of our life included church on Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening. My parents were wonderful role models, putting their beliefs into action as they served God by serving others.
I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in dietetics and nutrition education and later a MA in Labor Relations. I completed the Course of Study at MTSO. I also completed a two-year program of Spiritual Direction and Leadership at the Pneuma Institute. I became an Associate member of our Annual Conference in 2018.
I worked 32 years for the Commonwealth of PA, first as a registered dietitian, then as Business Manager of two facilitiies, managing both finances and support/administrative staff. I retired in 2008.
As a Certified Lay Minister, I helped churches to work together in both Johnstown and Venango County. When my husband was seriously injured, I provided pulpit supply for several months. That is when I answered the call to pastoral ministry. I had always felt the call but had never known a woman who was a pastor.
My first appointment was Barkeyville UMC, where I served for about 1 year. Then I served the United for God Cooperative Parish in Johnstown (Albright, Bowserdale, Cramer, Garfield St and Mount Olive – Jackson Township) for 9 years. In 2019 I was appointed to serve with my husband the newly formed Charge of Christ, Grove Ave and Homestead Avenue in Johnstown. My husband and I loved to team teach Lay Speaking classes. I have led several contemplative retreats for pastors.
My husband, my partner in ministry, died in August 2020, leaving a major hole in my life. We have been blessed with wonderful children. I have two married sons and John has two married daughters and a son. Even better than the children, we have 10 grandchildren.
For the past two years, my focus outside work has been caring or my husband. In my free time I like to read, garden, cook and embroidery. My life is enriched by two four-legged babies – a sweet elderly sheltie and a rambunctious Irish terrier, who keeps me active.
