I was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in Fayette County. Was raised in my early years in the greater Philadelphia area, Saudi Arabia, and Western Pennsylvania. I have lived in Western PA my entire adult life, and most of my married life in Washington County where I currently reside.
I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work and was employed as a Community Organizer for a few years before shifting focus in work for hospice care. I worked as a hospice social worker for six years before moving on to work in economic development specifically construction and reclamation of an abandoned strip mine. That position created a business relationship with the partner that had me working for him as both manager of the coal mine reclamation and the office manager/compliance officer for another of his companies. I handled PR, AP/AR, and compliance for ATF regs. for Small Arms Manufacturing/Shaw Precision Guns. During this time, I also served as a part-time local pastor to multiple churches.
I am thankful to Eric Park and Jim Markley for their guidance and support as I answered the call to ministry. My first assignment was at Greater Purpose Team Ministry as pulpit supply. That assignment became a quarter time appointment after completion of licensing school. I was appointed to McDonald Noblestown as a half-time appointment. That appointment was changed just a few years later when appointed to Community Church Charge occurred. This appointment was part-time LP - associate pastor. My next appointment was an extension ministry - appointed to the District as the Coordinator of Community Based Ministry and Racial Inclusion. I still hold this appointment while appointed full-time at California/Brownsville First Charge.
I serve on the District Dismantling Racism team, Connectional Ministry Team, and Nominations Committee. At the Conference level, I serve on the Connectional Leadership Table, and Commission on Religion and Race (CORR).
Scott, my husband, and I have been married 22 years. We met on the Southside of Pittsburgh and have been together ever since. We live in Washington County on a small farm. Our children, Talon and Lilly reside with us. Talon begins college Fall 2020 and Lilly begins 10th grade. Our lives are full of never-ending farm work, a proclivity for raising our own meat, attempts to have a garden, along with full-time positions as pastor (Dawn) and professor (Scott).
We enjoy staying at home, fishing, reading, family dinnertime, and a good thrift store.
