Avery U M Church
Erik grew up in the south hills of Pittsburgh, graduating from Upper St. Clair High School. He has a B.A. in print journalism from Ohio Northern University, and a master's of divinity from Candler School of Theology (Emory University) in Atlanta, GA. He was commissioned in the Western Pennsylvania UMC in 2008 and was ordained elder in 2011. He has served West Newton: First UMC, Chippewa UMC, and Avery UMC.
Erik serves on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry as the Provisional Residency Coordinator, the Conference Communications Team, and the Washington District Anti-Racism Team. He is also the President of the Washington County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, and organizes the annual golf outing fundraiser. He teaches English as an adjunct instructor at Washington & Jefferson College.
Erik and his spouse, Lisa, have been married since 2008. Lisa is also from Western PA, and is a structural engineer for AECOM, where she is the structures department manager. Both Erik and Lisa enjoy running, watching baseball, reading, and maintaining a family cabin on the Allegheny River in Kennerdell, PA.
