Pastor Robert D. “Bob” Zimmerman, 90, of Geistown, who served as pastor of Johnstown: Mt. Olive UMC from 1987 to 1999, passed away on March 13, 2019, at Harmony House.

Born October 11, 1928, in Harrisburg, son of Blair R. and Ann H. (Napotnik) Zimmerman, he was preceded in death by parents; loving wife Genevieve M. (Lehman) Zimmerman, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his children: Linda K. Weaver and husband Daniel of Johnstown, Ann R. Wolfinger and husband Robert of Johnstown, and Genevieve M. Grippo and husband Louis of Springfield, Va; grandchildren Shannon Judd and Daniel E. Weaver Jr., Scott and Matthew Saloney, Amelia Helsel, Diana and Eric Grippo;  10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephew Frank Gaydosh and wife Marilyn of Johnstown.

Bob was a graduate of Franklin High School. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He then worked at Bethlehem Steel for many years. After retirement,in 1987 he was called to serve as a apart-time local pastor at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, and in 1991 also took on pastoral duties at Lilly UMC.

A former member of Jackson Township Lion’s Club, he was an avid hunter. He also was a church choir member and a soloist at Summit Chapel United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First St., Conemaugh, and again from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Keith H. Lohr officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. Military graveside rites accorded by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League Detachment #287.
