Alice Louise "Allou" Powell Wirick, 91, of Davidsville, formerly of Somerset, died January 18, 2020 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. She was the surviving spouse of the Rev. Melroy Melvin Wirick, who died in 2001.
Born July 25, 1928 in Johnstown, the daughter of Harry A. and Alice C. (Craig) Ellis, she was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Dean B. Powell, second husband Rev. Melroy Melvin Wirick and sister Nancy Rager-Butler.
She is survived by her children: Linda J. Hawthorne and husband Leslie of Forest, Va, Mary Alice Emert and husband David of Somerset, Deana L. Erickson and husband Mark of DuBois, Pa, David Powell and wife Jodi of Stoney Creek, N.C, and Nancy Emert and husband Paul of Stoystown, 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Alice was a graduate of Shade High School and the Conemaugh School of Nursing. She worked as a R.N. Supervisor at the Somerset State Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Somerset and Daughters of The American Revolution.
Friends received January 20 at the Hauger Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset. Funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday Jan. 21 the service at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Somerset, Pa with Reverend Tony Meyers officiating. Private interment, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Pa.
