Kathryn S. (Sandefur) White, 75, of South Bend, IN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Kathy retired in 2010 as the Director of Camping for the Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church. 

Kathy earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Elon College and a Master of Christian Education from Emory University Candler School of Theology. She served as a Christian educator in many ways throughout her career and retired as the director of camping in January, 2010, after 35 years of service to the annual conference. In addition to 14 years in camping, she served as a church consultant on the Operation Sunday School staff and was the conference director of youth. She leaves a legacy of creativity and relationships that drew others into deeper discipleship.
 
Born October 25, 1942 in Roanoke, VA to G. William and K. Virginia (Horsley) Sandefur, who preceded her in death, Kathy is survived by her husband, the Rev. William White, Jr.; daughters Monica (Richard) Kocinski of Lakewood, OH, and Hilary White of Baltimore, MD; son Gregory (Lori) White; granddaughters Ruth and Charlotte White of South Bend, IN; and sister Susan S. Stringfellow of Tampa, FL, and step-grandson, Christopher Winters of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Roy (Dee) White of Easton, PA and sister-in-law Robin (Jim) McCanna of Carlisle, PA. Kathryn had 12 nieces and nephews.
 
 Visitation and a funeral service were held at Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend on Monday, October 30, lead by the clergy of the church.  A memorial service in Western Pennsylvania was being planned for Sunday, Nov. 26 at Dutilh UMC at 2:30 p.m.
