Raphael Hassell Walton, 71, of Pittsburgh's North Side, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Ordained an elder in the Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1978, he served at the Henderson/Southeast Erie Mission and Henderson Parish in Erie before moving to serve as an associate at Emory UMC in Pittsburgh, then at Calvary UMC in McKeesport until 1986. He then became a devout Catholic who attended Mass daily. He was a member of the Men's Emmaus group, a Benedictine Oblate, and sang in the Choir at Christ Our Savior Parish.
Beloved son of the late Raphael O. and Nancy A. Walton, he was the loving brother of Mary Alston, James (Salina) Walton, Daniel (Fran) Walton, Sarah Walton and the late Gregory (Lori surviving) Walton Sr. and Kimberly Walton; uncle of the late Latasha Walton. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1501 Lowrie Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212-Troy Hill.
