Elizabeth V. “Betty” Walker, 99, of Williamsport, died on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 at the Williamsport Home.
She was born June 30, 1921 in Hagerstown, MD. On Nov. 26, 1944 she married the Rev. Fred Walker, who preceded her in death Dec. 11, 2005. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Early in life, Betty worked for the former Gable’s Department Store, Altoona. She was also the consummate minister’s wife; accompanying Fred during his missionary service in Sierra Leone from 1946 - 1957. Both of their children were born there.
Betty was incredibly faithful, religious and loved to read her bible. When able, she would attend Pine Street United Methodist Church, Williamsport and was a faithful attendee of services at the Williamsport Home.
Surviving are one son, David Walker, of Muncy; grandchildren Ian, Aaron, Sia, Jesse, Arie and Rodman Walker, and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son Richard A. Walker and two brothers.
Burial was to be held privately at the convenience of the family in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
