The Rev. Gary Utz, a retired associate member who served congregations in the Johnstown and Indiana districts, passed away Jan. 29, 2019 in Hiddenite, NC.
Born January 11, 1944, he was married for 49 years to Karen Marie Utz, who passed away at age 71 in Statesville, North Carolina after a long illness in December, 2014. She was survived by a son Victor E. Utz of PA.; a daughter Elizabeth Korte (Kent) of Hiddenite; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Rev. Utz transferred his membership to the Western PA Conference from West Ohio in 1998 and served the Dayton/Smicksburg charge from1997-2001, when he was moved to Blacklick Community UMC. He served there until going on incapacity leave November 29, 2004. He retired in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
