Troutman, Dr. Perry
Dr. Perry J. Troutman, 91, of Annville, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Vivian Schreffler Troutman, who passed away in 2010.
Born in Corfu, New York on October 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Sarahann Beller Troutman.
Dr. Troutman was a Professor of Religion at Lebanon Valley College, retiring after 34 years of teaching. He received a bachelor’s degree from Houghton College, a divinity degree from United Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in Philosophy degree from Boston University. During his distinguished academic career, he founded The American Friends of Durham Cathedral, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting appreciation and support for historic Durham Cathedral, England.
Surviving is a daughter, Lynda Troutman O’Sullivan, married to P. Kevin O’Sullivan of Alexandria, Virginia, a son, Philip Edwin Troutman of Rochester, New York, grandchildren John Perry O’Sullivan and Michael Patrick O’Sullivan, and brother Richard Troutman and wife Merle Troutman of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Troutman, and a sister Marion Smallback.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Perry and Vivian Schreffler Troutman Scholarship Fund c/o Lebanon Valley College, 101 N. College Avenue, Annville, PA 17003.
