Rev. Ronald E. Marshall, 75, of Patton, who served 38 years as pastor of churches in the Cherry Tree Charge, passed away December 1, 2015.
Born December 2, 1939, in Spangler, the son of the late Norman and Alfretta Lois (Hoover) Marshall, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lois A. (Beckwith) Marshall. He is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Marshall Caretti, wife of Bud, of Patton and Sharon Ann Marshall Burley, wife of Robert, of Tavenier, FL; grandchildren Rory M., Kylie J., Anthony R., Lindsey A. and Dylan. He is also survived by his brother Bill W. Marshall of Patton and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Marshall was licensed to preach in the Central Pennsylvania Conference in 1969. He began serving churches of the Cherry Tree Charge as a part-time local pastor, and, after boundary changes, was ordained a Deacon in 1971 in the Western PA Conference. He completed the Course of Study in Nashville in 1975. Rev. Marshall served as pastor of Cherry Tree Charge until his retirement in 2007. After retirement, he remained in ministry, serving the Patton Church and Presbyterian churches.
Formerly employed as a clerk with A&P Stores for 25 years, he worked as a bus driver for Farabaugh Bus Lines serving Cambria Heights School District for 25 years. He was a former member of the Cambria Heights School Board and also served the community as a member of the Patton Municipal Authority until he resigned due to illness.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, especially with his son-in-law Bud and grandchildren Rory and Kylie.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or visitation. All services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., in Northern Cambria was in charge of arrangements.
