Lois Marie Jones, 78, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home. She was the surviving spouse of the Rev. Raymond A. Jones.
Lois was born in Washington, PA on January 2, 1942, a daughter of the late Frances Marie (Bradford) and Charles William VanGilder. She was a sweet and faith filled woman who loved her family. Along with being a meticulous homemaker and amazing cook, Lois enjoyed playing the piano and organ at her church. She also had been employed at Asbury College.
Lois met Rev. Raymond Jones when she was asked to play the piano for a revival at the church he pastored. They were married Dec. 29, 1963. Rev. Jones served Amity Methodist Church from 1963-1969, Verona First UMC from 1969-1980 and St. Paul's in Johnstown from 1980 until 1989. He passed away Nov. 26, 1989.
She is survived by her children, Ray (Tami) Jones of Lexington, KY, Rev. Bert (Cheryl) Jones of Harlan, IN and Ruth (Rev. Matthew) Gullion of Uniondale, IN; sister Ruth VanGilder of Fort Wayne, and seven grandchildren, Joshua, Allyson, Ryan, Aaron & Rebecca Jones and Abigayle & Elisabeth Gullion.
Funeral service were held Saturday, July 25 at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Road, Woodburn, IN. She was laid to rest at Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA
