Laura E. Holste, 68, of Seneca, wife of the Rev. David Holste, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, surrounded by her family at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.
Born in Richwood, W. Va., on June 4, 1948, she was a daughter of John L. and Lillian J. McDowell McIntosh. She was a graduate of Langley High School in Pittsburgh.
Laura worked for NCR while residing in Dayton, Ohio; and Quaker State before retiring in 2009 after 15 years working at Slippery Rock University as secretary for orientation and retention. She enjoyed being part of the "Lowry Ladies" while at Slippery Rock and together they enjoyed many adventures.
She also enjoyed quilting, feeding the birds in her yard and, above all else, spending time with her grandchildren.
For over 40 years, Laura participated and helped support her husband in the United Methodist ministry. She participated in all church functions including choir, vacation Bible school, Sunday school and United Methodist Women. They served at Oil City: Bethel/Plumer; New Stanton; Waynesburg First; Franklin Christ ; and Hermitage Hickory UMCs before Rev. Holste retired in 2010.
Laura enjoyed reading about church hymns and the background behind them. Most recently, Laura was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.
She is survived by the Rev. Dr. David A. Holste, whom she married on June 14, 1969. Also surviving are two daughters, Karen L. Cross and her husband Jeffrey of Seneca; and Martha A. Hoover and her husband Thomas of Franklin; and six grandchildren, Morgan Cross, Adam Cross, Benjamin Hoover, Genevieve Hoover, Lindsey Hoover and Jocelyn Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St., Franklin, with Revs. David Janz and Sam Wagner officiating. Interment was in Franklin Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting HuffFuneral.com.
