Griffith, Thelma Lou


Thelma Lou (Dunn) Griffith peacefully entered into God's eternal care on August 13, 2022. She was born October 13, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Charles Allison Dunn and Mabel Irene (Ahlborn) Dunn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend William G. Griffith, whom she was married to for 61 years and also daughter-in-law Reverend Doreen (Sterner) Griffith. She is survived by four children, Reverend William G. Jr. married to Debora (Fidler) Griffith, Cynthia (Griffith) Stahl married to John Stahl, Susan (Griffith) Babik married to Gregory Babik, all of Johnstown, and the Reverend Mark A. Griffith of Brush Valley: beloved grandchildren, Julie (Stahl) Seeley and her husband, James, Adam and his wife Jacqueline (Fabry) Stahl, David Griffith, Elizabeth (Griffith) Schlegel and her husband Jonathan, Matthew Lindsey, Luke Lindsey and Allison (Griffith) Haer and her husband Adam. Thelma also treasured her great-grandchildren, Zoe, Brody and Izaak Nagle, Gabriella and Maliah Schlegel, and Zelda Haer. Thelma is also survived by her brother-in-law, Donald Edward Griffith and wife Colleen of Butte, Montana, along with many nieces and nephews. Special friends who provided support and care to Thelma were Jamie and her daughter Sage, as-well-as Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center Hospice workers Wendy, Jessica, and Abbi. Thelma was a graduate of the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated servant to her Lord and Savior and fulfilled many different role in the United Methodist Church throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling and visited Israel on several occasions. She also enjoyed quilting and participating in a Prayer Shaw Ministry. Thelma was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all, including her faithful dog Sam. Friends received 4-8PM Wednesday at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11AM with Rev. Ruth Moore officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
