Robert L. Carroll, 91, of Erie and Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community in Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on September 13, 1929, son of the late Donald and Alda Blum Carroll.
Robert graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1947. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1951. Robert worked as a Locomotive Draftsman/Designer at General Electric for 41 years, retiring in 1988 and continued his love for trains and train stations. He was a pastor in the United Methodist Church, serving Elgin, Wayne Valley, and McCray churches for 24 years.
Robert loved to fish, and watch sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. He was very active in the lives and activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending many of their events right up to the week of his death. He truly loved his family and extended family and touched the lives of many, providing care and support.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter Robin (Carroll) Willats and two sisters, Shirley and Betty Jean Carroll. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie Leonard Carroll; his daughters, Debra (Douglas) Kruse and Joy (Robert) Armbruster; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his extended family.
Friends will be received at the cemetery chapel at Erie County Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 12 from 10 am until the 11 a.m. funeral service conducted there by Rev. Sam Marchetta, followed by Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Millcreek Post #773.
