Butler, Virginia L.


Virginia L. "Ginny" Butler went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2022.
Born Born Mar. 10, 1936 in Johnstown, the daughter of Edward and Mabel Skelly, she was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws David and Thelma Butler and sister Patricia. She is survived by her husband,  the Rev. David Butler, a retired pastor, who she married on September 20, 1958 at Homestead Avenue EUB Church.

She's also survived by her son David III, daughter Lori and her husband Daryl Penrod and loving granddaughter Hannah and step-grandchildren Tiffany Maul (Chris), Travis Penrod (Katilyn) and their children, sister Faye, of Montoursville, and four-legged grand-dog "Loki".

Ginny was a graduate of Johnstown Central High School and completed studies at the former "Junior Pitt" while working and studying to be a dental hygienist. She was active in the former Lee Hospital Auxiliary.

Ginny was a great wife, mother and Mimi. She was full of life and personality and loved to have a great time and was loved by many. Ginny loved being a "Pastors Wife" during her husband's second career and sharing God's love with the churches he served. She also enjoyed boating and camping at Raystown Lake with her family.

Friends were to be received from 3-7 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and also from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Thursday, at Elton Zion United Methodist Church. Pastor Daryl Penrod, officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family thanks the wonderful care given by Asera Care Home Hospice nurses and special friend they sent us, caregiver Gayle. The family also thanks special caregivers Krissy and Patty.
