Alverda M. (Yoder) Beam, 88, of Windber went to be with the Lord Nov. 23, 2015, at her residence. She was the widow of the Rev. H. Wayne Beam.
Born Dec. 7, 1926, in Hollsopple, daughter of Glenn Sr. and Ida (Stern) Yoder, she was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Curtis Reddecliff; second husband, Rev. H. Wayne Beam; son, Jere Reddecliff; brothers, John Yoder and Robert Yoder; and sisters, Evelyn Bracken, Marion Saylor and Esther Suskie.
Alverda is survived by children, Faye Reddecliff of California; James Reddecliff and wife Sandra of West Chester; and Alton Reddecliff and wife Judith of Windber; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter. Also surviving are her brother Glenn Yoder Jr. and wife Ruth; Russell Yoder; sisters Doris Mintmier; Dorothy Wacker; Patricia Shaffer; and Mary Ellen Ewasko. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Alverda was a former beautician in Dale. She was an avid bowler, having bowled a 273 game just a few years ago and was a former member of the senior bowling league in Bedford.
Being the wife of a pastor, Alverda was always very involved in the church. Friends were received at William Kisiel Funeral Home in Windber and before the Nov. 28 funeral service at Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Sands officiated. Interment was in Blough Mennonite Cemetery, Hollsopple.
