Lois Ann Barber, 80, surviving spouse of the Rev. Otto Z. Tinkey, passed away Friday evening, Feb, 19, 2016, at United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Township, where she had been a resident since 2007.
Born in Luzerne, the daughter of the late Walter M. and Alice L. Baer Barber, Lois was a graduate of Ridley Park High School and Clarion University, earning her master's degree in education. She was employed as a special education teacher for more than 35 years, until her retirement.
While living in Bedford, she was a volunteer chaplain at Bedford Hospital. Lois also played piano at various United Methodist churches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Tinkey; her grandson, Martin Zane Setto; and her brother, Marvin Barber.
Surviving are her daughters, Carla Scofield and her husband John of Clarks Summit; Judy Shaffer and her husband Ron of Lenhartsville; Rebecca Wilson and her husband, the Rev. Donald Wilson, of Washington, DC; and her son Douglas Zane Tinkey and his wife Julie of Linglestown; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Funeral services for Lois were held at Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Betty Riley officiating. Interment was in Carverton Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming.
