Waybright, William Luke

William Luke Waybright of Cochranton, who served many years as the Western PA Conference archivist, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Meadville Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was 64.

A long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church in Meadville, he was an avid church historian and compiled a book containing an illustrious history of the pastors and their families who had served this church over the many years. For many years and until his death, Bill was also the Conference Archivist and maintained the Methodist Historical Records at Allegheny College in Meadville.

Born May 16, 1950, in Butler County, a son of the late Jesse Luke and Rhoda Martha Baxter Waybright, he was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Stoneboro. He had been employed at Meadville Medical Center as the switchboard operator of the facility for 25 years.

“Bill,” as he was known to his family and friends, is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Thomas Waybright and his wife Debbie, of Caledonia, Ohio; David Waybright and wife Jennifer, of Prospect, Tenn., and Cynthia Briggs and her husband Jeffrey, of Hadley; as well as his nieces and nephews and their children.

The funeral and committal service was scheduled for March 12 at 7 p.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory in Sheakleyville, with the Rev. Robert Goodnough, pastor of Grace UMC, Meadville, officiating. The interment was to be at Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia.
