Dr. Paul J. Meuschke, 85, of Valencia, a retired pastor who served twice as a district superintendent, died Friday, March 15, 2013.
Born on December 11, 1927 in Castle Shannon, son of the late John and Flora (Voightman) Meuschke, he was the beloved husband for 56 years of I. Lucille (Lewis) Meuschke; father of David (Kathleen) and Eric Meuschke; and grandfather of Lauren, Zachary, and Jacob.
A 1950 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he earned bachelor of divinity and master of sacred theology degrees from Drew and was awarded a doctor of divinity by Ohio Northern University. He was admitted to the Pittsburgh Methodist Conference in 1951, ordained a deacon in 1952 and an elder in 1953.
Rev. Meuschke served as pastor at Janes United Methodist Church and Center U.M. Church, both of Creighton, PA;
Dormont U.M. Church; Franklin Street U.M. Church in Johnstown, PA; Baldwin Community U.M. Church, and South Avenue U.M. Church in Wilkinsburg, PA. He served as the Pittsburgh District Superintendent from 1970-72, when he moved to the Baldwin Church, and as Butler District Superintendent from 1978-84. He retired in 1993 after serving nine years at South Ave. UMC.
