Moffat, Luella Sillaman

Luella (Sillaman) Moffat, 97, of Arbutus Park Manor in Johnstown entered the kingdom of heaven Jan. 29, 2013. She was the widow of the Rev. Arthur Moffat and served alongside him through 41 years of full-time ministry in Western PA.

Born June 2, 1915 to Dr. James W. and Goldie (Jenkins) Sillaman of Bradenville, she was a graduate of Derry Township High School and Wooster College in Ohio. She taught French at Derry Township High School and Franklin High School.

The Moffat's retirement years were spent in Ligonier and at the Arbutus retirement community.

She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Arthur Moffat Jr., pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Johnstown, and his wife, Carol; and Pastor Robert Moffat and wife, Linda; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister, Marian Hunter of Arbutus Park in Johnstown and a brother, Dr. James W. Sillaman of Latrobe.

A memorial service was scheduled at 1 p.m., Feb. 1 at Arbutus Park Chapel. The family asked that no flowers or memorials be sent, Just praise God that Luella’s greatest desire in life is now fulfilled – that she is in heaven with Jesus Christ.
