Rev. Robert Fulton, who died on January 11, 2013, was ordained in 1961 as an elder of The United Methodist Church. He was an active duty chaplain in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1963-70. He attained the rank of Major in the Reserves.
His second career was with the claims department of State Farm Insurance Company. He spent 35 years with State Farm and retired in 1998 as a Divisional Claims Manager.
Bob served as pastor of Sewickley Little Hill United Methodist Church from 1961-63 and pastor of Muhlman Memorial United Methodist Church from 1974-78. He continued to preach, conduct funeral services, and baptisms in retirement.
Rev. Fulton is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Patricia Smith Fulton; his son, Scott A. Matthews; daughter-in-law, Jill Matthews; granddaughter, Caitlin Matthews; grandsons, Luke and Ross Fulton of Florida; two brothers, Dr. Arthur Fulton of Chambersburg, PA and Rev. Dr. Tate Fulton and his wife Ginger of Washington, PA; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dr. Byron and Hulda Bohse Fulton; and his son, David W. Fulton.
Friends were received at the Richard D. Cole Funeral Home in Sewickley, PA and a funeral service was scheduled Jan. 14 at Little Hill Church on Monday at 11 a.m.
