Preuss, Rev. Frederick Arthur

Reverend Fred A Preuss, age 70, of Cape Coral, passed away on October 12, 2012 in Cape Coral Hospice House.

He was born and raised in McKeesport, PA and graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School. Fred graduated from Lycoming College and Wesley Theological Seminary at American University where he earned his BA, BST and Masters of Divinity. Fred was a retired member of the Western Pennsylvania conference of the United Methodist Church and an Associate Member of the Florida Conference.

In Western PA, he served as associate pastor at McKeesport: First UMC; pastor of 10th St. and Kingsley UMCs in Erie and pastor of Dayton/Smicksburg charge. In Florida, he worked as a pastor and social worker for at risk youth for the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches until his retirement in 1996. Fred was an associate member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape Coral. Fred loved enjoying the water, boating and traveling. He lived for the family he loved. He will always be remembered for his generous spirit, and the impact he made on the many people he helped.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Laura Mitchell Preuss of 47 years; his 3 daughters Kymberly (John) Lukosky of Seattle, WA, Dr. Christy (James) Swanson of Cape Coral, FL and Dr. Meredith Preuss (Chris Goforth) of Irondale, AL; his brother Alan (Elaine) Preuss, of Boca Raton, FL; and his grandchildren Emma Lukosky, Dinara Lukosky, Noah Lukosky, Megan Swanson, Kyler Swanson, Christopher Goforth and Emily Goforth; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a TBD time over the Thanksgiving holiday. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cape Coral Hospice House.
