The Rev. Molly O. Brown, 89, of Perry Twp., Ellwood City, passed away at her residence on Monday, August 6, 2012. Surviving is her husband, Rev. Victor L. Brown, whom she married on September 22, 1942.
Admitted as a probationary member of the Western Pennsylvania Conference 1985 and ordained a full elder in 1989, she served Pittsburgh Buena Vista and Bell Chapel UMCs from 1985-87, and Houston UMC from 1987-93. After retiring in 1993, she continued to serve West Pittsburgh UMC from 1993-97. After serving as an associate pastor in Gainesville, FL, she returned to Western PA and served with her husband as co-pastor of the Parker/Bruin Charge from 2000-2002.
Besides her husband, Molly is survived by four children, Victor L. Brown, Jr. of Castle Rock, CO, Charles R. Brown of Vero Beach, FL, John M. Brown of Ellwood City and Sandi C. Recterwald of Perry Twp.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held for Molly at Wurtemburg United Methodist Church in Ellwood City on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jean A. Smith.
