Jo Ann Leslie, loving and devoted wife of the Rev. F. Richard Leslie, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away October 10, surrounded by family who joined together in song to usher her into the arms of Christ.
A resident of Quincy Village, Jo Ann was born in Brackenridge, PA to Jessie and Florence Nolder and had survived her parents and brother, Larry, her son Keith (Oksana) and brother-in-law Ron (Robin) Leslie. Jo Ann graduated from Har Brack High in Natrona Heights, PA and continued her education at Shepherd University.
She was a lifelong, active member of the United Methodist church, serving alongside her spouse of 59 years. Jo Ann had a beautiful voice and blessed many church choirs and congregants with her gift. She was active in United Methodist Women.
Besides her husband, she's survived by her daughter, Kim (Jim) Haring of Columbus, OH, two sons, Kevin (Cheryl) of Lambertville, NJ and Kyle (Bridget) of Baltimore, MD and grandchildren, Jimmy (Theresa) Haring, Jessica Haring, and Margaret, Aidan, Ceit Leslie (Kyle & Bridget), Jessef, Dar (Keith & Oksana) and her first great-grandchild, Adelaide Haring, in addition to stepsisters, Ceil (Jack) Kuhn and Brenda (Richard) Fowler, sister-in-law, Elaine (Tom) Burin and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
JoAnn's cooking was legendary, including a family and friend favorite around holidays, her nut rolls. She played a mean hand of cards, was a fiercely competitive game player, possessed a hearty laugh, warm smile and sparkling eyes—that afforded beneficial treatment in more than one instance.
Donations accepted in memory of Jo Ann at Board of Childcare of the United Methodist Church ( boardofchildcare.org ) a favorite of Jo Ann's.
A celebration of her life was scheduled for November 1, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, PA. Family was to receive guests from 10-11 a.m. and worship will begin at 11. Lunch was to be served in the church hall immediately after worship.
