Rev. William "Bill" Clark Beal, Jr., 87, a retired Western PA pastor and archivist for the General Commission on Archives and History, died September 14, 2014.
Licensed to Preach in 1944 in the Evangelical Pittsburgh Conference, he was ordained an elder in Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1950. He served the Timblin/Dora/Mount Tabor/Porter charge from 1950-1954; Huntingdon from 1954-1956; Ligonier: Calvary/ Rector/Lebanon/Tarrs charge from 1956-1958; Somerset: Grace from 1958-1964; Industry from 1964-1968 and Industry/Midland until 1970; Midland/Shippingport charge from 1970-1971;
Pitcairn: Highland Avenue 1971-February 1, 1974. He then became Archivist for the General Commission on Archives and History, where he served until retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Leight; two daughters, Joyce Horn and husband Houston, JoAnn Pun and husband Tony; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at First United Methodist Church, in Somerville, NJ, near Bridgewater, where he resided..
