Armstrong, Rev. Robert C.

The Rev. Robert C. Armstrong, 89, of Nottingham Township, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver.

Born October 15, 1924, in Searsboro, Iowa, a son of the late Emmett and Alice Bingham Armstrong, he married Maudie M. Hargis on September 18, 1947, She passed away September 27, 2007.

The Rev. Armstrong and his late wife were founding board members of Washington County Habitat for Humanity. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

The Rev. Armstrong was a seminary graduate and a retired Methodist minister. He was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of United Methodist Church. In addition, he and his late wife attended Thomas Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four.

Surviving are his beloved children, Gerald R. (Anna) Armstrong of Clinton and Diane (Larry) Brosius of Beaver; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are a son, Bruce Armstrong; a daughter, Lorinda Armstrong; an infant son, Roger Armstrong; brothers Paul, David and Harry Armstrong; and sister Elmira Eberly.

Friends were received at Salandra Funeral Service Inc. in Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where full military rites were accorded Saturday, July 5, by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard, followed immediately by a funeral service. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Eighty Four.
