Evelyn June Perry, widow of the Rev. Russell Perry, entered into the arms of our loving Father on the 95th anniversary of her baptism, May 20, 2014. 

Her longtime friends, the Rev. Bill and Lois Hiles, said June died peacefully in her sleep. She had been listening to George Beverly Shea sing The Old Rugged Cross.

The daughter of Anna Mae and Clyde J Smith, June was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 24, 1919. She graduated from Passaic High School and Drake Business and Secretarial College in Montclair, New Jersey.

On June 5, 1943, she married Russel E. Perry  and together they served churches is the New Hampshire and Western Pennsylvania  conferences  of The United Methodist Church. They served in summer camps for 22 years and  were co-leaders of the Senior Adult Retreats at Olmsted Manor for 26 years. They were honored by the United Methodist Foundation of Western PA with its 2006 Founders Day Award.

The Perrys moved to Winter Haven, Fl  in 1983, then to The Estates at Carpenters in Lakeland, Fl

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers. 

A Celebration of Life  Service was heldThursday, May 29 at the Estates at Carpenters Auditorium with Rev. Hiles  and Chaplain Bradney officiating. 

A Celebration of the Lives of Rev. Russell E. & Evelyn June Perry will take place at Olmsted Manor on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:30 am. This memorial service will blend with the closing worship of the Older Adult Retreat. Friends of the Perrys are welcome to attend and are invited to share in a light luncheon that will be offered after the service.
