WPA Youth Elected to NEJ Board
Two members of the Western PA Youth Ministry Team have been elected to leadership positions on the Northeastern Jurisdiction Council on Youth Ministry (NEJ CYM) for the 2018-19 school year.
At an NEJ CYM meeting held Feb. 23-24 at Concord UMC in Beaver Falls, Mollie Landman of West Newton and Herminie UMCs was elected to chair the group and Ally Benn of Lakeside UMC in DuBois was elected as Youth Service Fund coordinator.
Amanda Gilligan, Western PA Conference Youth and Young Adult Ministries coordinator, said the NEJ CYM guidelines suggest that only one youth from each conference be elected to the Council, but the group unanimously voted to elected both young women from WPAUMC.
The mission of the NEJ CYM is to grow youth into adult disciples of Jesus Christ. Mollie has served as secretary of the council.
Youth and adult leaders from several annual conferences in the NEJ attended the gathering at Concord UMC, where they participated in worship, games and fellowship activities in addition to the election and business meeting.
