Sunday windstorms swept through Wesley Woods camp in Grand Valley, PA, knocking down a row of large pines that lined the parking lot of the camp store and office. There was minor damage to a few buildings and power outages from the storms, said Shane Hinderliter, coordinator of camping and retreat ministries for the Western PA Conference.
A workday to help remove the trees and generally clean up after the storms was planned for Saturday, Nov. 21, he said. Lunch will be provided. Those interested in helping Saturday, or any other time, are asked to call or text Emily Reed, Board Chair, at 814-335-2052. Volunteers are asked to bring chainsaws and work gloves if they have them.
"There were power outages across the camp," Hinderliter said. "Most of the power was restored by Monday morning. The power to the site manager’s house and the shop was restored today (Tuesday)."
If you can't make it on Saturday, Nov. 21, you're welcome to bring a group at another time by contacting Emily.
