Flooding from severe storms passing through the New Castle area June 17-18 has affected the entry road and ramp to the Eastbrook Mission Barn, an official UMCOR depot where cleaning (flood) buckets and hygiene kits are verified and processed. Repair work began Wednesday, June 19 and were expected to continue through the week of June 24-29.
The Mission Barn is one of eight depots in the The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Satellite Network.
Mission Barn Director Katie Peterson has asked that churches and individuals continue to build and collect the buckets and kits, but to delay delivering them to the Barn until after June 29. She advises contacting her at missionbarn@gmail.com or 724-856-8241 before attempting any deliveries.
Buckets and kits may still be delivered to the Mission Barn satellites in Western PA and Upper New York. See locations.
Here's a look at the flooding on Monday evening.
