Men, Women Welcome at UMW Gathering

10/18/2017

You don’t have to be a United Methodist Woman to celebrate women in mission at the Conference UMW annual meeting. Men are welcome too!  Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi will be the featured speaker at the gathering from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28 at Faith UMC in Delmont.

It will be a day of learning about empowering women, the UMW, and making a difference in our world.

In addition to the Bishop’s address, those attending will select a breakout session from the following options:

  • Human Trafficking in Western Pennsylvania - Ardi Hill, who served as a local pastor, will offer insight into the human trafficking. Sex trafficking is the second largest criminal industry next to drug trafficking and is the fasting growing.  It is happening in Pittsburgh and Greensburg and other areas connected to major highways.
  • Bishop Moore-Koikoi – Continuing the Dialogue
  • Conference Mission Coordinator Stephanie Gottschalk, Maraia Gonelevu and members of last summer's Fiji VIM Team will share their experiences in the Fijian islands in the South Pacific. There they saw first-hand the effects of climate change and visited cities, rural villages and remote islands where the Methodist Church is involved in many educational and outreach ministries.
  • Officer training for Program Resource Coordinators with Mary Hart
