Western Pennsylvania United Methodists are invited to join in prayer on Thursday, May 24 (Aldersgate Day) to lift up our Camping and Retreat Ministries and everyone involved in them. A Prayer Walk, with two-hour segments scheduled consecutively at the camps and ministry sites, is planned so that those in each area have an opportunity to visit and join in. Others are encouraged to pray wherever they are throughout the day.
“Prayer matters! We want to lift up everyone who makes these ministries happen,” said Washington District Superintendent Brad Lauster, one of the Prayer Walk organizers.
“We also want to keep prayer as the focal point for our Deeply Rooted, Upward Reaching campaign for Camping and Retreat Ministries,” Jessica Gamache, coordinator for Conference Camping and Retreat Ministries, added.
The campaign will raise funds to ensure the camps and retreat facilities remain available in good condition and that any child who wants to go to camp can do so, regardless of ability to pay.
