With its various models, deaf ministry offers faith communities some exciting ways to grow and make disciples. On Friday evening, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16, the Rev. Leo Yates Jr., author of "Deaf MInistry: Ministry Models for Expanding the Kingdom of God" and la consultant to
The United Methodist Committee on Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Ministries, will offer workshops at
First UMC in Reynoldsville.

All are welcome to attend to learn more about how to start or expand the Deaf Ministries in churches and communities
The schedule includes:
Session 1 "History of Deaf Ministry" - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM, Sept. 15
- A history of Deafness throughout the centuries, historical aspects of Deaf ministry, some deaf people's experiences of the church, and ways to improve upon past approaches.
Session 2 "Intro to Deaf Ministry" - 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM, Sept. 16
- An overview of ministry models, intro to sign language, and strategies for beginning and/or sustaining a Deaf ministry.
Session 3 "Best Practices of Deaf Ministry" - 12:30 PM - 3: PM
- Includes an abbreviated overview of these type of ministries and ways to be accessible.
The cost for one of the three sessions is $10, or register for all three for $25.
Lunch is included for those who register for both sessions on Saturday.
Discounted copies of Leo Yates' book on Deaf Ministry will be available to purchase for $10.
Leo also will preach at the church's 10:45 AM worship service on Sunday, September 17.
