Bailey Selected to Lead UM Foundation of WPA

The Rev. D. Edward Bailey, pastor of Christ UMC in Youngwood and vice-chair of the Conference Board of Pensions and Health Benefits, has been selected to succeed the Rev. Frederick Leasure as executive director of the United Methodist Foundation of Western PA.

The executive committee of the Foundation’s board of directors announced Bailey’s selection on February 15 after a three-month nationwide search conducted with the Orion Delta Group.

“We are extremely pleased that the Rev. Ed Bailey will become the Foundation’s next executive director following Fred Leasure’s retirement in September of 2014,” said Board Chair Jim Sekel. “Ed will begin working in tandem with Fred on July 1 of this year.

“We want to use the opportunity to have these two gentlemen meet with as many of our Foundation clients as possible in order that this leadership transition is seamless for the individuals, churches, and agencies of The United Methodist Church in Western PA as we continue to partner with them in fostering ministries.”

Bailey, a board member of the Foundation since 2010, is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College and earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has completed both the Pastor’s Academy for Stewardship Formation and the General Board of Discipleship Planned Giving School.

He previously served on the distribution committee of the Carolyn Knox Memorial Trust Fund.

Before being appointed to Youngwood, Christ UMC, Ed served as pastor at New Castle First UMC, Baden UMC, Springdale UMC, Charleroi First UMC, and Meadowlands and Fawcett UMCs.

Ed and his wife Tabitha have been married 22 years and have four children.
