Ackley-Killian to Service Pittsburgh, Butler Districts: On Monday, November 15, Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi announced through email that Rev. Deborah Ackley-Killian will serve both the Pittsburgh and Butler districts effective January 1, 2023. Read more

"Meeting this Moment" Symposium: Three Western PA clergy will be deliver papers at  “Meeting This Moment: Exploring the State of Allegheny College’s Methodist Affiliation,” a symposium that will be held at Allegheny on March 17-18, 2023. The Revs. Susan Moudry, Erik Hoeke, and Lynette Moran will join writers from the college in presenting papers related to the two institutions' long relationship. Keynote speakers include UMC Bishop Pete Weaver, who is from Western Pennsylvania; Dr. Joanne Berger-Sweeney, president of Trinity College; and Melissa Spas, a 2003 Allegheny alumna who was recently named vice president for religion at Chautauqua Institution. Details about these speakers and the papers selected for presentation are available on the symposium website. Registration will be available in January.

Albright-Deering Lecture: This annual lecture will be held February 15-16, 2023. The February 15 WPAUMC Workshop will be held at Christ Church UMC in Bethel Park and livestreamed to Olmsted Manor and Jumonville. The February 16 Albright-Deering Lecture, Worship, and Lunch will be held at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. "Moving through grief requires us to make meaning of the loss, which occurs largely through the construction of story, and reimagining our future. Drawing together the insights from narrative theory and recent bereavement research on meaning-making Dr. Karen Scheib will help consider how we engage in these processes of healing."
