GC Delegate Elections: At annual conference in June 2019, members will elect delegates to the 2020 General and Jurisdictional conferences. Guidelines and eligibility requirements are listed in a document available at wpaumc.org/conferencesecretary. If you are eligible and nterested in serving as a delegate, fill out the online nomination form on the Conference website before Dec. 31, 208. See form.

Alternative Energy at Camp Allegheny: Thanks to the Solar Samaritans ministry based at First UMC in Somerset and a $25,000 grant from a Penelec Fund at the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, Camp Allegheny will begin using solar power at Heartwood Center.  Read more.

GC2019 Info Sessions: United Methodists are turning out in force for conference meetings aimed at informing people about the special 2019 General Conference, like the Listening Posts in Western PA.  Most meetings feature tutorials on the legislative options for helping the denomination remain unified despite persistent division over homosexuality. Judicial Council News: The UMC’s top court is continuing to play a key role as the denomination prepares for the legislative meeting that will help decide its future. When the Judicial Council convenes Oct. 23-26 in Zurich, its fall session will open with a three-part oral hearing related to a request for a “declaratory decision” on the constitutionality of three plans created by a special task force, the Commission on a Way Forward. Upcoming Events

Camp Allegheny Work Day: Saturday, October 27 is Camp Allegheny’s Fall Work Day. Church groups, students, families, or individuals are invited. Projects are available for any skill level. Call  Camp Allegheny at 814 754-5122 to RSVP if you have a group of 5 or larger. The day kicks off with coffee and donuts at 7:30 a.m., but volunteers are welcome to come and go as needed.

Ministry and Fellowship Day: The Franklin District Council is sponsoring a Ministry and Fellowship Day on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Grace UMC in Grove City. The day will feature a presentation by Pastor Ruben Alvarez, a pastor from Dallas who works in community outreach and mission, and a choice of seven breakout sessions. Download brochure
