Deaconess Dr. Judith Pierre-Okerson
Deaconess Dr. Judith Pierre-Okerson is a member of Miramar United Methodist Church in the South-East District of the Florida Conference. She is currently serving as the District Lay Leader. A longtime member of United Methodist Women, Judith is the co-secretary of her local UMW. She held offices in the District UMW for 11 years, including four as President. At the Conference UMW level, Dr. Pierre-Okerson served as Vice President, Dean of the School of Christian Mission, Assistant Dean, and registrar. She is currently the Conference President. At the National level, Judith served as the chair of the Committee on Nominations of the Women’s Division board of Directors, and the chair of the Governance Committee of the United Methodist Women National Organization.
Judith is a frequent keynote speaker at local, district and Conference UMW events. She taught mission studies, led retreats and Bible studies at several conferences and at the National level. Deaconess Pierre-Okerson has served on several district and Conference committees including 12 years as a lay representative on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministries. She currently co-chairs the Bishop’s Antiracism Task Force Training and Accountability Team.
Dr. Pierre-Okerson’s involvement in the General Church includes serving as a board member of The General Commission on Religion and Race, The General Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), The Women’s Division, and the United Methodist Women National Organization. Judith has been a delegate to Jurisdictional and/or General Conferences since 1996.
Judith was consecrated a Deaconess in The United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio during the 2018 United Methodist Women Assembly.
