Mission u Spiritual Growth Study Moves Online
Beginning July 21, Rev. Lisa A. Grant, pastor of Edinboro UMC, will lead a 4-week Tuesday morning study of Finding Peace in an Anxious World, which uses the book of Proverbs and “The Serenity Prayer” as a guide to help Christians find their way through anxiety, worry, and fear and move towards God’s peace. The book and study materials were intended for use as the Spiritual Growth Study for Mission u 2020, which was scheduled for July 23-26 at California University of PA, but cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Grant, the study leader, will instead offer the study as an alternative to the typical Mission u. It is open to everyone. Each Tuesday morning session will be via Zoom from 10 a.m.- noon and will allow for breakout discussion. After registration, each participant will receive a weekly email invitation to that week's Zoom discussion.
A fifth Zoom session on August 18 will be for anyone interested in talking about ways to use the study material in their local church.
Using “The Serenity Prayer” as a scaffold, Finding Peace in an Anxious World explores ways to discover peace through scriptural and spiritual disciplines so that we can be rooted in God and energized to live fully as disciples of Christ.
The book, edited by Erin James Brown, is available for Kindle or in paperback. Get details on the study and where to find the book at unitedmethodistwomen.org/finding-peace-in-an-anxious-world
Note: The Mission u Team also will offer the study, led by Rev. Grant, on Oct. 2, in Erie, PA at Lakewood UMC. Registration will open in late August-September, closer to the scheduled date.
