Roxbury St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will host a Dismantling Racism seminar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, October 13. Reverend Sylvia King, one of our City Council members and pastor of Christ Centered Community Church in Johnstown, will be a featured speaker.  The Reverend Dr. Dianne Glave, coordinator of Diversity Development for the Western PA Conference of the UMC, the Reverend Brad Lauster, Pastor Debra Mason and Heather Burtch of the Conference Anti-Racism Team will serve as facilitators of the seminar.  Our goal for the seminar is to raise awareness of cultural and church-based racism, thereby making a more welcoming place in church and community.  The Witness Committee of Roxbury St. Paul’s UM Church would like to offer this seminar in the hope of reaching this goal.

The schedule for the seminar is as follows:
                           8:30 to 9:00--Registration
                           9:00 to 9:30--Reverend Sylvia King
                           9:30 to 10:00--Snacks and Mingling
                           10:00 to 12:00--Racism 101
                           12:00 to 12:30—Lunch (Soup and sandwiches with gluten free alternatives.)
                           12:30 to 3:00--Implicit Bias
                           Prayer and Dismissal
The seminar will be worth .5 CEU’s
The cost for this event is $7.00. Scholarships are available for those unable to pay.
