Description: The Visual Communication and Social Media Coordinator is a vital part of the communications team.  The primary role of the coordinator is to manage WPAUMC social media messaging, handle layout and design of print communication, help to develop online and training video, and assist with webpage design and maintenance. Purpose:
The Visual Communication and Social Media Coordinator is a vital part of the communications team.  The primary role of the coordinator is to manage WPAUMC social media messaging, handle layout and design of print communication, help to develop online and training video, and assist with webpage design and maintenance. Reporting directly to the Director of Communication, the coordinator will help to carry out the Conference mission of providing connection and resources to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 

Core Value:
Communication is a strategic function that helps to align ministries of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference with its mission, vision and core value and seeks to facilitate the flow of information and resources between the General Church, the Annual Conference, and local churches, as well as the general public.

Reports to:  Director of Communications

Functions:
●    Develop and maintain Conference communication through social media
●    Develop training events related to local church communication
●    Design, layout, and production of print publications
●    Create resources using Adobe Creative Cloud products
●    Assist with photography and creation of video for social media, website and training 
●    Assist with reporting, writing and editing for all platforms 

Expectations:
●    A strong commitment to the Conference’s vision, mission, values and goals 
●    Experience in graphic design, writing, editing and video production 
●    Understanding of the United Methodist Church structure and polity
●    Maintain confidentiality 
●    Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks, along with an ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team environment 
●    Ability to work independently, be entrepreneurial, and create and implement new initiatives
●    Willingness to provide support for local churches
●    Willingness to travel locally, nationally and internationally

Qualifications:
●    A bachelor’s degree in Communications or a relevant field of study
●    Project management skills with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
●    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people both internally and externally
●    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
●    Prior communication experience with religious communities preferred
●    Obtain and submit clearances: including but not limited to PA Criminal History and Child Abuse background checks and FBI fingerprinting
