About First U M Church
First UMC is centrally located in downtown Punxsutawney along State Route 36, and the congregation has been part of the community since the early 1800s. The church has a rich history of mission support, music ministry, and community outreach. First UMC offers Quarterly Outreach Events to the community, works among Beyer Avenue (affordable housing) & does multiple community outreach events with children and youth (as well as adults). Tuesday morning and seasonal Small Groups for Men & Women. First UMC is blessed to have a powerful music ministry. We have a 9am service in our FH & we have an 11 am service in our sanctuary. Both services are modern in their approach. The congregation is a host facility for a Boy Scout Troop, a Yoga group, a Domestic Violence group, plus others on an as needed basis.
