Give Some Jesus!

Sandra Matoushaya

"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2.

Although we can’t physically be together during this time of uncertainty, there are still many ways we can support one another.

Giving Tuesday is right around the corner. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to encourage people to do good and has grown into a global movement inspiring hundreds of millions of people. This year, Giving Tuesday Falls on December 1, 2020. Despite not being able to volunteer in large groups as many organizations have done in the past, there are other ways we can give.

How can we be in community with others and give of ourselves virtually?
This year, give a small part of something we all have an abundance of... time. How amazing would it be if we as the body of Christ gave up our time for someone else? Plan to spend one minute, five minutes, or ten minutes making an impact on someone’s life. Let us spread a little joy, let us spread positivity, let us be the light of Jesus that shines in the darkness.

  • Pray: Pray for someone you know and pray for someone you don’t know.

  • Talk: Call someone just to say hello over the phone or set up a zoom just to connect.

  • Reach Out: Send a message, note or card of encouragement.

  • Advocate: Spread the word about a ministry to friends and family. Share social media posts and websites to the word on the amazing work being done by ministries all around the world.

  • Donate: Give both monetary donations and gifts in kind. Find out what people and ministries are in need of and find ways to assist.

  • Share Stories: Your most important tool is your own story. Share success stories from ministries you are personally involved with and the impact that involvement has had on you.

It is time to be there for one another and to provide a support system for friends and strangers alike. Let us spread the love of Christ amongst the world and shine a light in the midst of these dark times for all to see.

While Giving Tuesday is an excellent opportunity to give back, try to be in mission all year round. Give of yourself today, tomorrow, and every day to come. Let’s give some Jesus! To learn more about and pray for ministries supported by Western PA,  follow our Missions Advent Calendar
