It has been wonderful to celebrate the partnership our Greensburg District in WPA has held with the Harare West District in Zimbabwe for a number of years. As a district, we have completed work on the construction of the Kojakoto UMC, we have provided COVID-kits to the local churches, we have underwritten the purchase of a borehole (a water well) within the Kojakoto community, and have made significant efforts towards the completion of the Kariba UMC. As a district, we have lived into our baptismal vows of obedience to Christ through our support of the partnership with our prayers, with our presence in Zimbabwe through the Zim-Camp immersion experience, our financial gifts, our service of practicing Chabadza (coming alongside the workers in the field), and our witness of love for Jesus by reaching out to the people of our sister district.
MHANGURA BOREHOLE is another location in need of water for the community. We are praying and working to raise $10,000 by Valentines Day (Feb. 14, 2022) in order for people in the Mhangura community to have access to safe drinking water. More information will be coming, but please begin to donate generously to our partnership so that we can underwrite the cost of the borehole. Mhangura is a community of people who have remained after the closing of a former copper mine. The UMC decided to form a congregation in that community, and found that there is a need for a deep, sustaining well (borehole). Because there are no other boreholes in close proximity; and when people can access other water, it is often sold at great expense. Contributing to this borehole will provide necessary life-support for this community.
KARIBA UMC is still under construction, and need approximately $16,000 to complete their work so that they have a secure building, and restrooms, in which to worship. Our goal is to complete our commitment to that project by Easter of 2022. What a wonderful opportunity for the people of Kariba to hold an Easter Celebration in their building.
HappyPat Puzzle Ball is a mindful, manipulative labyrinth puzzle that Paul Nelson designed and produced. Pat has been taking them around to various churches and church conferences and a number of you have already purchased one. If you buy one from her personally, the cost is $50. If you order one online at happypat.net, or if she has to ship it to you or someone you designate, the cost is $60 (to include shipping). The total proceeds go directly to our Zimbabwe Partnership. You can contact her at email@example.com. Just let her know how many you want to purchase. This makes a great gift for Christmas, birthdays, graduation, or that hard-to-buy for person; or just because you want something in return for your contribution to the partnership!! Thanks ahead of time for your order and contribution :)
