Creative Ways to Celebrate Y.S.F.

1. Youth - collect offerings in work clothes: hard hats, work shirts, painter pants, nqil aprons, etc.

2. Collect contributions in innovative ways (not just via the offering plate): work boots, nail aprons, buckets, work gloves, wheelbarrows (empty and clean!), paint cans. tool boxes...

3. A meaningful quote to use: "If the mission of the church is to bring compassion and justice into a broken world, and if we the church, who have this very specific mission, do not respond, then who do we expect to respond?"

4. Did you know that The Youth of the Western Pennsylvania Conference raised the most money for YSF giving in the Northeastern Jurisdiction in 2004!!! YAHOO!!!

5. Use the YSF logo (dove with YSF lettering) on the bulletin cover. Access it at http://www.umyouth.org and find out its interpretation and creator.

REMEMBER: Celebrate and Continue YSF!!

SEVEN SIGNS OF A PRO-YOUTH CHURCH

1. Teenagers have significant responsibilities in the church

2. The church supports its youth ministry with finances and staff positions.

3. Kids are integrated into the life of the whole church, not just the youth group.

4. The church has a vision statement for youth ministry and communicates it often and well.

5. The church's young people enjoy long-term, home-grown youth ministry leadership.

6. The church has an outreach mentality and a youth-welcoming reputation.

7. Church leaders plan the main worship service with all ages in mind.
